CRANSTON – Carolyn Rafaelian, founder of the Alex & Ani LLC jewelry company, is adding to her portfolio with a new jewelry brand, Metal Alchemist.
The brand’s line will feature products “designed, forged and artisan-crafted in Rhode Island,” according to an announcement from the company, and distributed in partnership with the North Carolina-based retailer REEDS Jewelers.

“This new venture is incredibly special to me because it combines elements of my culture, my beliefs and one of my passions – fine jewelry,” Rafaelian said in a statement. “Metal Alchemist jewelry is the first of its kind in so many ways, from the quality of the precious metals to our proprietary refining and bonding processes that we do in-house right here in Rhode Island, to working with ancient alchemical techniques in a whole new way.”
Offerings will range from $28 to $28,000, and include metals such as sterling silver, 14-karat and 18-karat gold and stainless steel.
The partnership with REEDS will extend the brand’s reach to the retailer’s 62 stores across 14 states, in addition to its e-commerce website.
