The most recent survey of small-business owners by the National Federation of Independent Business indicated in July that optimism has almost reached an all-time high (set in 1983). While the federal tax cuts and continued robust consumer demand have business owners across the nation feeling good about their prospects today and into the near future, there is at least one dark cloud on the horizon – survey respondents reported unfilled job openings rose to a record last month, even as a record number of them plan to create new jobs in the next quarter.
