CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Bank of America Corp. has inked a deal with the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, or the International Federation of Association Football, to become the official bank sponsor for the FIFA World Cup 2026, the popular soccer tournament involving teams from countries worldwide that will take place in North America.
The financial terms of the agreement for Bank of America to be named “global sponsor” were not disclosed. “Global sponsor” is reportedly a second-tier sponsorship below “FIFA sponsor.”

But with the deal, the bank, which is the second largest in Rhode Island in terms of deposit market share, is looking to get the attention of billions of international soccer fans who are expected to watch the monthlong event.
The bank said the partnership with FIFA, which runs through 2026, illustrates the financial institution’s commitment to promoting wellness, supporting the pursuit of excellence and making a human connection and community impact through the power of sport.
“Football connects the world like no other sport,” said Brian Moynihan, Bank of America chairman and CEO. “FIFA World Cup 26 is a tremendous opportunity to celebrate the pursuit of excellence and how we deliver for our clients, teammates and the communities we serve across the U.S. and around the world.”
Featuring 104 matches with 48 teams from around the world across 16 host cities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, the tournament will take place in June and July of 2026, the bank said.
Bank of America is FIFA’s first-ever “global sponsor” in the banking category.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Bank of America as a global sponsor of this groundbreaking FIFA World Cup,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “Bank of America’s commitment to community engagement both domestically and globally aligns with our goals for the tournament and beyond, while their support of FIFA on an international basis is a major milestone for our organization as we continue to serve our game for the benefit of the entire world.”
