Fred C. Lohrum,
chairman of BankBoston’s Rhode Island
operations, was picked to head one of
five regional divisions recently
created by the bank, according to a
statement issued by BankBoston last
Wednesday.
Lohrum will serve as chairman for BankBoston’s South Region, which
includes all of Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Attleboro,
Brockton, Fall River, Hyannis, Nantucket, New Bedford, Quincy and
Taunton are among the Massachusetts communities included in the South
Region.
Bank operations in the area include more than 3,000 employees, 100 bank
branches and 286 automatic teller machines.
“The new Regional Bank consists of five regions across New England, each
with its own regional leader,” said Bradford H. Warner, vice chairman of
BankBoston Corp. “The leaders will play a vital role in integrating and
leveraging our business throughout New England.”
Lohrum has headed BankBoston’s Rhode Island franchise in 1992. Before
that he served as chairman, president and chief executive officer of
BankBoston in Connecticut.
