PROVIDENCE – A second grade student from Henry Barnard School is one of 53 winners nationwide in the Doodle for Google Competition.
Isla Becker’s entry was selected from thousands nationwide and her accomplishment was revealed to her in a surprise assembly at the school, located on the campus of Rhode Island College. Google representatives presented her with a large-scale rendering of her doodle.

Fifty-three state and U.S. territory winners were chosen.
Now the winning entries will face a public vote to determine five national finalists, which will be announced in June. Of the finalists, one will have their doodle featured on the Google homepage for a day. That child will win a $30,000 college scholarship and the student’s school will receive a $50,000 package to establish or improve a computer lab or tech program.
