PROVIDENCE – Baystate Financial raised $275,000 through its annual charity golf classic in June, using the occasion to honor Wonderfund and Lauren Baker, the first lady of Massachusetts. Wonderfund works with the Mass. Department of Children and Families to provide comfort and dignity to children in traumatic situations.

In 2017, the Baystate Financial Charitable Foundation donated all of the money raised through that year’s golf classic to several nonprofits, including the Wonderfund, Camp Harborview, Special Olympics Massachusetts, ALS Walk and the Travis Mills Foundation.

This year, 202 golfers in 51 groups participated alongside 25 sponsoring partner firms, including Eastern Bank and The Gosselin Foundation. The golf classic was held at the International Golf Club in Bolton, Mass.

“We are thrilled to have started a tradition that … allows us to keep supporting kids in need via the Wonderfund,” said Chris McIntosh, executive director of the Baystate Financial Charitable Foundation. “This golf tournament has raised more than $2 million for local charities.”
