PROVIDENCE – Having a little fun with the quirkier side of downtown Providence, The Business Development Co. launched a new advertisement likening its president to Superman.

The ad depicts Peter C. Dorsey, BDC president, ripping off his suit to reveal a Superman-like costume with a company logo instead of the iconic “S” for Superman.

Dorsey is also standing in the foreground of the so-called “Superman Building,” known formally as the Industrial National Bank Building, at 111 Westminster St., Providence’s tallest building.

“Surviving the demise of the phone booth, a superhero is disguised as a mild-mannered lender,” is written on the ad.

Dorsey took the ad one step further, making it his LinkedIn avatar and changing his professional title to “Lending Superhero.”

He also revamped his job description.

“Dedication to funding small businesses in and near the Rhode Island metropolis; unwavering moral commitment to borrowers; collaboration with supporting cast of talented sidekicks at headquarters in Providence; deployment of creativity and flexibility superpowers to help local citizens acquire funds necessary for their business’s working capital, geographic expansion, asset purchases or other legal pursuits,” he writes.

The BDC provides capital to small business.
