Bickford named tech and innovation development director at URI Foundation

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The University of Rhode Island Foundation has hired Linnell Bickford as the director of development for emerging technologies and innovation, the school announced.

Bickford is tasked with leading fundraising initiatives for efforts such as big data/data science, virtual-reality labs and artificial intelligence.

According to URI, Bickford has 17 years’ experience in nonprofit and higher education development. She was most recently employed at Dartmouth College’s Thayer School of Engineering in Hanover, N.H., and has also held directorial roles at Florida International University in Miami, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, and Albright-Knox Art Gallery of Buffalo, N.Y.

Bickford has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree, both in finance from FIU.
