PROVIDENCE, R.I. (June 11, 2009) – Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) won four awards in the 26th Annual Healthcare Marketing Advertising Awards Competition. BCBSRI was honored for an advertising campaign, a direct mail piece, a diabetes management promotional program, and for its Choices magazine.

BCBSRI won a Silver in the publication/external category for Choices magazine, a quarterly membership publication reaching 280,000 households; a Bronze in the health promotion program category for a newly created diabetes planner; a merit in the total advertising campaign category for the “I’m So Much More” brand campaign; and a merit for a direct-mail promotion for BCBSRI’s HealthyMoves.org Web site. HealthyMoves is a multi-media campaign designed to help employers, brokers and consumers reduce their health care costs.

“We appreciate the recognition of our efforts to communicate meaningful information to our members that will help them improve their health in an affordable way,” said Christopher Medici, chief communications officer of BCBSRI. “These programs and promotions have enjoyed terrific success among our members, which is very rewarding in and of itself.”

There were more than 3,600 entries in this year’s competition sponsored by The Healthcare Marketing Report, a national trade newspaper for healthcare marketers. It is the largest healthcare advertising awards competition. A national panel of judges was engaged in reviewing all entries based on creativity, quality, message effectiveness, consumer appeal, graphic design and overall impact.
