A neighbor told WPRI-TV CBS 12 he alerted police after he had not seen the elderly couple after a couple of weeks. When he went to check on them he smelled something foul outside the home on Marian Lane, which was owned by Menard.
Police found Menard dead in one room of the house and the man in another room, according to WPRI.
Foul play isn’t suspected and the home was found intact with mail stacked up in the mailbox.
Menard was Woonsocket’s longest-serving mayor from 1995-2009.
