Bristol County, Mass., home prices increase 6.5% year to year in April

NEW BEDFORD – The median price of a single-family home in Bristol County, Mass. in April was $319,450, a 6.5% increase year over year, according to the Warren Group Wednesday.

The number of sales in the county declined 8.6% year over year for the month, from 361 in April 2018 to 330 last month.

Year to date, the median price of a home in the county was $300,200, a 5.3% increase from year-to-date prices in April 2018. Year-to-date sales declined slightly year over year in April, falling 0.2% to 1,192 sales.

In all of Massachusetts, the median price of a single-family home was $382,500, a 2% increase from April 2018. Sales increased 2.8% year over year to total 4,279. Year to date, the median sale price of a home in the Bay state was $375,000, a 5% increase from April 2018 figures. Sales declined 0.1% from the same period the previous year to a total of 14,004 sales.

“The median sale price for single-family homes has been steadily on the rise for the last three years,” stated The Warren Group Associate Publisher and Media Relations Director Cassidy Norton in a news release. “Even with inventory levels improving, I fully expect stiff competition between buyers to keep prices elevated during the upcoming spring and summer months.”

The median price of a single-family home in Rhode Island was $275,000 in April.
