PROVIDENCE – The median price of a single-family home in Bristol County, Mass., was $334,000 in August, a 5% increase year over year, according to The Warren Group Wednesday.

The median price in the county was lower than the state median in August of $420,000, increasing 4.7% year over year. Massachusetts single-family home sales declined 3.1% year over year in August.

The number of single-family home sales in Bristol County, Mass., totaled 553, a 1.1% increase year over year.

“The median [Massachusetts] single-family home price continued to break records during the last full month of closings for the summer,” said Timothy Warren Jr., CEO of The Warren Group, in a statement. “Sales were down in August for the third consecutive month. This year marks the third consecutive year of modest declines in home sales. Everyone is trying to figure out if this is a sign of a slowing market or simply a lack of inventory. I’m betting on a strong local economy and job growth to keep housing hot for another year.”
