PROVIDENCE – The Mass. legislature has appropriated $250,000 to the New England Business Association to provide private consulting to small- and medium-sized manufacturers undergoing a business transition. Applicants for the program must be based in Massachusetts, the association said in a news release.
Interested companies need to fill out a one-page application and submit a detailed statement and consultant proposal. To be eligible, companies are asked to pledge a dollar-for-dollar cash match. Companies can apply for up to $7,500 in matching funds for a third-party consultant.
Areas of transition suitable for consulting would include restructuring of bank debt; marketing programs, excluding website development; bankruptcy reorganization; lean manufacturing; or government procurement.
All application information will be kept confidential.
The application period for the competitive, one-time matching-grant program ends Monday, Oct. 1. Awards will be announced in mid- to late October, with projects completed by May 31, 2019, according to the association.
