David Byrne Silvia of Newport has joined RPW Investments, an affiliate of Rooney, Plotkin & Willey, LLP, as general manager of its investment operations. He was previously an investment specialist at Charles Schwab & Company and a financial consultant with Merrill Lynch. Silvia will administer RPW Investments and work with clients on investment strategy and management. He is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara.
AUTOMOTIVE
Harvey Steele
Harvey Steele has been appointed director of worldwide automotive sales at Cherry Semiconductor Corporation in East Greenwich. The position was created when the company’s transportation business unit was formed earlier this year. Steele will oversee all of Cherry Semiconductor’s global automotive sales functions, including OEM and first and second tier suppliers. His responsibilities will include management and planning for major accounts, and sales growth in the automotive business by expanding the company’s customer base, increasing penetration into European and Asian markets, and supporting new product definition and development.
BANKING
Eric S. Gagner
Eric S. Gagner has been appointed sales and service manager for First Bank and Trust Company’s North Kingstown branch. He will be responsible for the daily operations and sales of the North Kingstown office. Formerly, Gagner was a store manager with Brooks-Maxi Drug in Cranston. A Rhode Island College graduate, Gagner holds a bachelor’s degree in management and recently received a master’s degree from Johnson & Wales University. He lives in Warren.
Susan T. Replogle
Susan T. Rep-logle has been promoted to vice president of Bank of Newport’s Mid-dletown branch. With the Bank for seventeen years, Replogle was most recently an assistant vice president. A graduate of Dean College, she recently graduated from the New England School of Banking. She is a member of the Rhode Island Bankers Association. She has also been a mentor with the Newport Public Schools for eight years.
COMMERCE
Gerald A. Noel, Jr. of Woonsocket has joined the staff of the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce as an account executive. He recently retired after 25 years as the director of immigration and refugee services for the Diocese of Providence. A graduate of Rhode Island College, Noel has served on several volunteer boards including Family Recourses, of which he is still a board member, and the Woonsocket Harris Public Library Board of Trustees.
Lynn Mulvey
HEALTHCARE
Lynn Mulvey has been appointed coordinator of adult outpatient behavioral health at The Providence Center. Mulvey, a Providence resident, will oversee the provision of outpatient services for adults in need of general counseling and substance abuse treatment. Prior to this job she spent more than six years at Kent County Mental Health Center where she managed that center’s dual diagnosis program. Mulvey holds a master’s of social welfare from Rutgers University. She is also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Professional.
Colin A. Macgillivray
Colin A. MacGillivray of Portsmouth has been appointed chairman of the board of directors for Delta Dental of Rhode Island. MacGillivray, who recently retired as Delta Dental’s president and CEO, succeeds James A. Thomas, who served as board chairman for the past two years. MacGillivray was president and partner of The Capstone Group and executive vice president of external affairs at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island before joining Delta Dental in 1991. He is a graduate of the Boston College School of Management and the Northeastern University Management Development Program. He served as a naval officer for four years in the Western Pacific and as an instructor at the Officer Candidate School in Newport.

David J. Macedo has been named assistant vice president in Amica Insurance’s accounting department. Macedo, a graduate of Bryant College, began working for Amica in 1985 as an associate accountant. He was promoted once before being elected an Amica officer in 1996. A Cranston resident, he is a CPA and earned the insurance industry’s CIA and FLMI designations.

Richard Vigliotti
Richard Vigliotti of Cumberland has been hired as materials manager of Tiffany & Co.’s Silver Manufacturing Facility in Warwick. For six years prior to joining the company, Vigliotti was with Howard H. Sweet and Son, Inc. in Attleboro. There he was director of planning for the Tiffany & Co. Manufacturing Division. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Vigliotti is on the board of directors of the Providence Chapter of the American Production and Inventory Control Society. He is also on the Board of Goldmark Credit Union.
Debora Moniz
PUBLIC RELATIONS
Debora Moniz has been promoted to graphic designer at Fleming & Roskelly, a public relations agency. The Tiverton resident has been a junior designer with F & R since October of 1997. She was previously employed at Riverside Art in Seekonk, Mass. as an assistant manager to the graphics and reproduction department. Now her responsibilities will include design and production of various projects created by the agency. Moniz earned her bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Rhode Island College.
Desiree Sousa
TRAVEL
Desiree Sousa of Providence has completed a six-week program at The College of Disney Knowledge in Orlando, Fla., where she was instructed about the Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World, Disney Institute, and Disney Cruise Line. She completed the six-course program last month. Sousa works for Urban Travel in Providence. Her completion of the Disney program will enable her to assist clients who are contemplating a vacation at a Disney resort.
