James J. Prescott of the Providence-based accounting firm Cayer Prescott Clune & Chatel-lier, LLP has been elected president of the Rhode Island Society of Certified Public Accountants for a one-year term. A Barrington resident, he also serves as treasurer of the Literacy Volunteers of America Rhode Island Chapter; as treasurer of the State Wide Affordable Housing; and as a corporate member of Delta Dental of Rhode Island.
Michael J. Lamond
Michael J. Lamond has been promoted to manager of the Providence office at Rooney, Plotkin & Willey, LLP. A graduate of Bryant College and a member of the Rhode Island Society of Certified Public Accountants, Lamond has been with the firm since 1994. Rooney, Plotkin & Willey is a full-service certified public accounting firm. Founded in 1973, the firm has offices in Newport and Providence. Lamond is a Cranston resident.

Cote & D’Ambrosio, a recently formed advertising and public relations agency based in Saunderstown, recently helped New England Sun Control create a new spin-off company to market security window film and CEIA access control systems. Cote & D’Ambrosio, who created the name and logo for the new spin-off, has since been named agency of record for the company. Agency principals Eric Cote and Ken D’Ambrosio will develop a full-scale advertising, public relations and direct marketing program for the newly formed company, Guardian Bastille, LLC of Smithfield. Lisa Coyne
Lisa Coyne has been promoted to branch manager of The People’s Credit Union. She will be responsible for managing operations of the Credit Union’s Thames Street office in Newport. Joining PCU in 1986 as a teller, Coyne was promoted to teller supervisor in 1992, and branch manager of the Friendship Street office in 1994. A Warren resident, she received an associate’s degree in business from the Community College of Rhode Island and is attending Roger Williams University where she seeks a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Arthur J. O’Donnell
Arthur J. O’Donnell has been appointed vice president for GTECH’s customer services organization. He will direct the com-pany’s call center, distribution and remedial services. Before joining GTECH O’Donnell was vice president and chief quality officer of the products division at Compaq/Digital Equipment Corporation, where he was responsible for quality, customer satisfaction, warranty, and managing Digital’s worldwide SAP implementation. A graduate of Framingham (Mass.) State College and Boston University’s management development program, O’Donnell received his master’s degree in business administration from Northeastern University.

David S. Dixon
David S. Dixon has joined Sells/Greene Building Company, LLC as project manager. The company is a general contracting and construction management firm with projects throughout Rhode Island and eastern Massachusetts. Dixon has been active in construction and real estate since graduating from Yale University in 1994.
Stephen C. Saris

Stephen C. Saris, MD, has been appointed to the active medical staff at Roger Williams Medical Center. Dr. Saris is a neurosurgeon specializing in brain tumors, pituitary problems and degenerative spinal disorders, such as stenosis and disk herniations. He received his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine, did his surgical internship at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, had a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, and did his residency at the Duke University Medical Center.

Gary J. Primavera
Gary J. Prim-avera has been named assistant vice president at Starkweather & Shepley. He is responsible for new business development and account management. Before joining the company almost nine years ago, Primavera worked for Arkwright Mutual Insurance. A North Kingstown resident, he graduated from Bryant College with a bachelor’s degree in finance, and received his master’s in finance from the University of Bridgeport. He is an Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) and an Associate in Risk Management (ARM).
Joseph W. Nevins
Joseph W. Nevins has been elected an Information Systems officer in Amica Mutual Insurance Com-pany’s corporate Information Systems department. Nevins, a graduate of Rhode Island College, began working for Amica in 1981 as an associate programmer. A Barrington resident, he earned four promotions prior to his assignment as an officer.

Bruce E. Newcomb
Bruce E. Newcomb has been hired as a senior sales application engineer for Fielding Manufacturing. He will be responsible for preparing tooling and molding quotes for customers and vendors. He will supervise each project through the system to ensure that the tooling is constructed as designed and functions as described, and the produced parts meet the printed design. Before joining Fielding, he spent 22 years as a tool design engineer for plastic injection molds at Davol, Inc., in Cranston. Newcomb has an associate’s degree in design from the Franklin Technical Institute.
Joanne Fagan

Joanne Fagan has been appointed vice president of public relations at Village Retirement Communities. She will be responsible for overseeing all publicity efforts and special events for the retirement and assisted living communities at all eight villages. Fagan was previously director of public relations. Headquartered in Greenville, VRC provides catered retirement and assisted living, as well as catered assisted living for people with Alzheimer’s.
