Sandra R. Cooney has been named president and CEO of Gregory & Cooney, Inc. She formed the full-service advertising agency six years ago with Gerald D. Gregory, who has retired, but will remain as a consultant. Prior to the formation of GCI, Cooney was director of communications for the City of Warwick under Mayor Francis X. Flaherty and Charles J. Donovan. She was a vice president at the Providence agencies of Chaffee-Bedard, Inc. and Dodge Associates. She is a former president of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Warwick, as well as a member of the Rotary Club of Warwick. She also serves on the board of directors of the Volunteer Center of Rhode Island.

Dominic L. Ragosta
Dominic L. Ragosta, CPA, has been elected the new chairman of The Rhode Island Convention Center Authority. Appointed by Governor Lincoln Almond, Ragosta succeeds Stephen DeBlois. Ragosta is founder of E-Publications, Inc., an Internet commerce development firm in Providence. He is former president and CEO of Communications International Corp., the Rhode Island-based telecommunications firm he formed in 1988. He was reappointed twice as chairman of the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation.

Angela Moore
Angela Moore, Inc. has announced a third-quarter expansion and relocation of the corporate offices to Newport Corporate Park in Middletown. Space in the new office will be allocated to Web site design, trade show design, product design, fulfillment of the wholesale and Internet orders, offices and conference rooms.

Ben Thompson
Bob Thompson, a former chief financial officer for Munters Corporation, has founded The CFO Connection; a new business specializing in providing New England companies part-time expertise in finance, strategic planning and negotiating. With Munters, Thompson restructured the accounting systems to parallel the manufacturing systems; worked to expand operations to Canada, Mexico, and Brazil; led divisional efforts for the development of strategic plans; and reorganized several divisional manufacturing programs. He also had responsibility for accounting, data processing and personnel activities.
E. Gordon Gee
Brown University President E. Gordon Gee has been named to the board of directors for Citizens Financial Group, Inc. Named the seventeenth president of Brown in June of 1997, Gee also has a faculty appointment at Brown as professor of education and public policy. Prior to joining Brown he as president of Ohio State University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Utah and a law degree and doctorate in education from Columbia University.

Meredith A. Goodwin, MD
Meredith A. Goodwin, MD was installed president elect of the Rhode Island Academy of Family Physicians at the recent annual meeting. Dr. Goodwin is assistant director of predoctoral education, clerkship director and assistant professor of family medicine in the Brown University/Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island Family Medicine Residency Program. The Rhode Island Academy has over 125 physicians. The American Academy has 88,000 members.

She is responsible for the Salem Five’s residential mortgage origination in the Providence and Cranston market areas, and is associated with the Cranston Loan Production Office. A Cranston resident, she was associated with New England National Mortgage and CTX Mortgage as a senior loan officer prior to joining Salem Five.

Robert C. Cressman, Jr. has been selected as the 1999 Realtor of the Year for the Kent Washington Board of Realtors. He is president and principle broker of Cress & Co., Inc. Active in real estate since 1982, Cressman oversees 21 agents. He has served as president of the Kent County Board of Realtors, received the Kent Award as outstanding leadership, and was a key member in the formation of the Kent Washington Board merger. He has served on local, state and national levels as a state director, was recipient of several RELO awards, and has served on several nominating committees.

Joann Cardullo has been appointed regional vice president of operations for Village Retirement Communities. She will be responsible for overseeing all operations and nursing at all of the company’s catered retirement residencies throughout southern New England. She had been regional director of operations for VRC. Headquartered in Greenville, the Village provides catered retirement and assisted living, as well as catered assisted living for people with Alzheimer’s.
