Christopher Heinzmann has joined Munroe & Associates Architects in Wakefield. Formerly employed by Blount Bennett Architects of East Providence, he is a registered architect and member of the American Institute of Architects. At Munroe he will be a project architect, overseeing the production of primarily commercial projects. Heinzmann will also manage the firm’s computer systems, utilizing his fifteen years of CAD experience. He is Rhode Island School of Design graduate.

Moses Brown School head Joanne P. Hoffman has recently been appointed to the steering committee of the Foundation for the Ocean State Public Radio. The goal of FOSPR is to support the growth and development of WRNI-AM (1290), Rhode Island’s first public radio news station. In addition to this new committee membership, Hoffman is also on the Board of: Community Preparatory School, Trinity Repertory Company, the Asheville School, Friends Council on Education, and the Rhode Island Council for American Private Education. The steering committee serves as a liaison to the Rhode Island Community, advises on local program development, and assists with raising funds for the capital campaign. The committee is composed of workers in government, business, education and the community.

Gita Afshar of Barrington has joined the Providence system engineering firm Merrill Clark Incorporated. The former director of management information systems at BlueCHip Coordinated Health Partners (formerly HMO RI), Afshar will be a business analyst and senior project manager at Merrill Clark. In addition to her former position with BlueCHip, Afshar has held several other information system management positions in the health insurance industry including positions with Coordinated Health Partners and with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island. She will be responsible for helping Merrill Clark expand its business in the health care industry, including insurers and HMOs. Merrill Clark Incorporated is a systems engineering firm that assists clients in evaluating information systems, identifying business needs, developing strategic plans, selecting vendor products and components, and coordinating the integration, test and rollout of the entire system. The company’s clientele includes numerous health care organizations including hospitals, health insurers, HMOs, and physicians’ organizations.

Charles Huntington, a data analyst in Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island’s Health Information Management Department, was named a recipient of the 1998 Hospital Association of Rhode Island Award for Excellence. He was one of thirteen employees nominated by member hospitals who were honored at a reception held recently at Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet. The Pawtucket native has been employed at the hospital for ten years, coordinating the retrieval, presentation and analysis of clinical statistical data from the hospital’s data base and providing reports to administration. In addition to working with administration, Huntington forwards statistical information to physicians, such as how many knee operations they might have performed in the past year.

Jon B. Mignacca of Narragansett has been named director of the assistive technology division of Vanguard Home Medical Equipment Company in Warwick. Prior to his appointment, Mignacca acquired 25 years of experience in adaptive equipment and specialized seating for handicapped persons when he owned and operated Burke’s Medical Equipment, which was acquired by Vanguard in November of last year. He is also the first and exclusive supplier credentialed by Rehabilitation Engineering and Assertive Technologies Society of North America’s Professional Standards Board.
Housing
Susan A. Leone has joined the Rhode Island Housing and Mortgage Finance Corporation as a loan officer. The South Kingstown resident markets the agency’s low-interest mortgages directly to consumers and realtors. She is student at Roger Williams University. Now serving Washington County, Leone has eight years of experience in residential mortgage lending. She has volunteered for the Kent Washington Board of Realtors and The Charlestown Chamber of Commerce.
Manufacturing
Lisa V. Medeiros of Riverside, program coordinator of the Manufacturers’ Partnership has formed a strategic alliance with Rhode Island Manufacturing Extension Services. The mission of the Manufacturers’ Partnership is to enhance global competitiveness of the manufacturing sector through collaboration, education and technology. Prior to her appointment, Medeiros was a training specialist at the Regional Employment and Training Board.
Non-profit
Lori A. Norris of Middletown has rejoined Goodwill Industries of Rhode Island as vice president of corporate and community relations. Her new responsibilities will include facilitating relationships within the business community as well as with the constituencies of Goodwill Industries of RI. Prior to her return to Goodwill, Norris worked as the marketing manager for Rhode Island Manufacturing Extension Services. She serves on the Board of Trustees for the RI Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and is an ambassador for the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce.

Andy Hebert has joined Teknor Color Company as technical service engineer. He comes to Teknor from Plasticolor in Canada, where he was accounts manager for Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina. Hebert has been in the plastics and color concentrates industries for over twenty years. He has held various technical positions with Universal Dispersions in Georgia, And Ampacet Corp. in California. A graduate of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, he has presented numerous papers at Clemson University’s in-house extrusion conference related to the coloration of polypropylene fibers. Hebert will be responsible for coordinating the resolution of technical-based customer complaints as well as for providing technical assistance to customers and field sales for TCC. He will also be conducting customer technical presentations.

Edward D. Silva, owner of Silva Agency, Ltd. was awarded the CRB (Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager) designation conferred by the Real Estate Brokerage Managers Council. The Brokerage Managers Council is an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors, and is the professional organization for brokerage management. There are more than 7,000 members. Silva has been named the Realtor of the Year before and has served in many capacities on the Board. He has been director, corporate secretary, treasurer, and chair of the membership, equal opportunity, grievance, professional standards, building, and finance committees.
