Care New England was one of around 50 Rhode Island businesses to get a Worksite Health Award from Blue Cross and the Chamber at a breakfast. There were around 50 large group employers, and the event was meant to celebrate local businesses that showed a commitment to improving Rhode Islanders’ health.

Lactation; injury prevention; diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging; employee recognition; and wellness participation incentives were among the Care New England programs highlighted.

“This event includes the opportunity to learn from each other’s successes and this year we have launched a new opportunity to highlight wellness achievers, companies that have taken unique, innovative and creative approaches to prioritizing wellness and helping employees achieve and maintain their health goals,” said Melissa Cummings, executive vice president and chief customer officer for Blue Cross.

Chamber President Laurie White encouraged other companies to follow Care New England’s lead.

“By increasing morale and production, and decreasing health care costs and sick leave, worksite health programs are a win for all involved,” White said. “We applaud Care New England for committing to invest in the wellness of their team and for inspiring more Rhode Island businesses to find creative ways to help their employees live better, healthier and happier lives.”
