WARWICK – The Crowne Plaza Hotel Providence-Warwick will undergo a $22 million renovation, according to The Carpionato Group Wednesday.

The company, which owns the property, said that the renovation is part of its plan to create a bio-medical destination at the Crossings Office Park.

The renovation will include a complete redesign of the lobby, café, lounge area and marketplace, a full renovation of four meeting rooms and all 266 guest rooms, an enhanced pool area and fitness center. The renovation was said to include a focus on technology and enhanced amenities, according to Carpionato.

“We are continuing to invest in Rhode Island, and these renovations will make the Crowne Plaza the premier destination for business travelers coming to the Ocean State,” said Kelly MacArthur Coates, president and CEO of Carpionato Group. “Additionally, the hotel will meet the demands of the burgeoning meds and eds component at The Crossings Office Park and fits in with our desire to create a true bio-medical destination campus in Warwick.”

The last time the hotel was renovated was in 2006.

“This redesign holds plenty of options for the business traveler, and we’re striving to make sure a stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel [Providence-Warwick] makes work feel a lot less like work,” stated Lynne Oscarson, general manager of the hotel.
