CENTRAL FALLS, Rhode Island – In three local Dunkin’ Donuts shops, one dollar buys more than coffee and a donut – it supports the Segue Institute for Learning, a Central Falls charter school conceived by people who grew up, currently reside in, or have significant ties to the Central Falls community.

During a special fundraiser from August 19 to September 1, Dunkin’ Donuts customers pay one dollar for a medium coffee and a donut. The money will be donated in entirety to Segue. The three participating locations are Dexter Street and Lonsdale Avenue in Pawtucket, and Broad Street in Central Falls.

Dunkin’ Donuts staff will don Segue tee shirts during the promotion and all Segue teachers and staff are eligible for a free coffee and donut on Mondays until October 1.

“Segue really stands up for Central Falls,” said Tabitha Elefsiades, manager of Dunkin’ Donuts instrumental in implementing the fundraiser. “The school is a safe haven for our students in this community and we want to do our part to support their wonderful work.”

A critical time for Segue, the school is currently in discussions to purchase the building where it is now located. A building fund has been established with a generous $10,000 donation from actress Meryl Streep. Additional contributions to this fund are now being accepted.

Segue is also up for renewal of its charter this year and the school is working closely with the Rhode Island Department of Education through this process.

“The most special aspect of this promotion is that Dunkin’ Donuts approached us with this fundraiser,” said Angelo Garcia, Founder/Head of School for the Segue Institute for Learning. “As our community rallies around the school, it further inspires us to take Segue above and beyond expectations for our students.”
