PROVIDENCE – A Central Falls man last week pleaded guilty to charges related to stealing identities to open lines of credit and buy tens of thousands of dollars in goods.
Reynaldo Martinez, 25, pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated identity theft, two counts of access fraud and one count each of bank fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, attempted access fraud and interstate transportation of stolen goods.
Martinez, who plead guilty in U.S. District Court of Rhode Island, admitted to using various resources to steal personal identification information from individuals earlier this year.
He used the stolen information to open and secure credit to make purchases at businesses throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
The purchases totaled between $40,000 and $90,000, according to court documents.
Martinez faces more than 40 years in prison and could pay more than $1 million in fines.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 25.
