Centreville foundation issues $247,000 in grants to 19 nonprofits

WEST WARWICK – The Centreville Bank Charitable Foundation has awarded $247,000 in grants to 19 nonprofits in Rhode Island and Connecticut in the fourth quarter.

The recipients include the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket, whose “out-of-school time” program provides resources and support for youths, and Access Community Action Agency in Connecticut, a nonprofit helping people in northeastern Connecticut.

The foundation did not specify how much each nonprofit was granted.

“This generous funding enables us to continue providing enriching opportunities for the 3,700-plus youths we serve each year at our clubhouse,” said Amy Gonsalves, Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket director of development and communications. “Thanks to this year’s grant, we’re able to expand access to our out-of-school time programs, ensuring that young people from Pawtucket, Central Falls and the surrounding neighborhoods have a safe space to grow, learn and have fun.”

The foundation said it awarded $1.6 million to more than 100 nonprofit organizations in 2024.

The Centreville Bank Charitable Foundation grants in the fourth quarter of 2024 include:

  • Access Community Action Agency: Rapid rehousing domestic violence support.
  • Social Enterprise Greenhouse: GROW: Creating economic prosperity among historically underserved business owners in Rhode Island.
  • Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket: Out-of-school time program.
  • United Way of Rhode Island Inc.: Annual employee campaign match.
  • University of Rhode Island Foundation: Talent development program.
  • Town of Plainfield, Conn.: Senior art expression.
  • Martin House Inc., Norwich, Conn.: Food security program.
  • Thames Valley Council for Community Action Inc.: Senior nutrition program.
  • Mini Entrepreneurs of Rhode Island: Entrepreneurial education for Rhode Island children.
  • Junior Achievement of Rhode Island Inc.: Junior Achievement financial literacy programs for Rhode Island youths.
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Warwick: Nurturing Resilience, Inspiring Growth: BGCW’s holistic approach to youth development.
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island: Mentoring programs.
  • Entrepreneurship for All: EforAll in Rhode Island: Reducing racial income disparities through inclusive entrepreneurship training.
  • Rhode Island Zoological Society/Roger Williams Park Zoo: Zoo camperships: Supporting Title 1 Youth summer programming.
  • Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island: Gifts that Give Back Campaign.
  • Madonna Place, Norwich: Gifts that Give Back Campaign.
  • Putnam Board of Education, Putnam, Conn.: Gifts that Give Back Campaign – Family Resource Center.
  • Food pantry donations: A total of $23,000 was donated to 23 food pantries.
