PROVIDENCE – Brown University was named 45th among the top 50 universities in the world for health, medicine and science degrees, according to CEOWORLD magazine’s recent ranking.

The University of Oxford in the United Kingdom topped the list. In the United States, Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., was No. 2; Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., No. 5; Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, No. 6; University of California, Berkeley, No.7; and Columbia University in New York, No. 9, made the top 10.

Brown University ranked just below Boston University, which ranked No. 44.

To create the list, the CEOWORLD magazine reviewed numerous national and international rankings to find the top 50 universities for medicine and health science degrees. Data and information are taken from publicly available information, research papers, academic studies, and the CEOWORLD magazine’s best universities in the world ranking (on which Brown ranked No. 65). This list was condensed to what was considered the world’s top 50 best universities for medicine and health science degrees in 2019.
