Cranston, RI: A glimpse of economic promise has hit Cranston, Rhode Island. Carpionato Properties’ Chapel View project announced that its newest six story mixed use building – Building 2000 is nearly fully occupied.

The 125,000 s/f building with floor to ceiling windows, and sweeping views of Providence, Newport and Fall River, is the most recently completed building in the ten building, $90 million project, that has generated over 700 jobs.

Kelly Coates, senior vice president of Carpionato Properties announced the final space in the building, including 30,000 s/f on the fifth and sixth floors, will be occupied by corporate headquarters, restaurants, and other expansions of existing tenants. “ We built Chapel View on spec because we believed in Cranston,“ said Coates. “Mr. Carpionato believed that this could be a success and believed that Rhode Island can still have a vibrant economy.”

While Coates declined to name the new 30,000-s/f tenant, he did reveal that Alex and Ani- is adding an additional 7500 s/f to its world headquarters already located at Chapel View’s Building 2000.

• Tea and Java Restaurant
• Ideal Image

Alex and Ani ,The Champlin Foundation, and First Comp are already headquartered in Building 2000.

“This is a wonderful boost to help build up the state and Cranston’s economy,” said Cranston Mayor Allan Fung. “From the beginning, all the way up to when it’s finalized, we’ll have jobs continuing in this project, right here, right in the heart of Cranston. Who says economic development isn’t happening? We’ve got development right here in the heart of Cranston.”

Chapel View is on 30 acres that used to house the boys reform school, and Fung noted the project “… has taken property that was off the tax rolls, and put it back on the rolls.”
