PROVIDENCE – An Arizona-based nonprofit has started providing resident services to tenants of the newly renovated Charles Place Apartment Homes in Providence.

Rainbow Housing Assistance Corp. began its private contract in June, hired by building owner Standard Communities, the affordable-housing division of Standard Property Co. The company bought the property in 2017 and recently completed a full renovation.

Through Rainbow Housing, tenant services will be delivered both on-site and digitally, according to Flynann Janisse, Rainbow Housing’s executive director.

Charles Place Apartment Homes, at 460 Charles St., has 200 units. Residents include retirees and people with disabilities, as well as individuals who recently experienced homelessness.

The services that Rainbow Housing will provide include healthy eating and meal planning, personal finance and budgeting, and other supports, Janisse said. For older and disabled residents, this includes efforts to improve mental health and reduce isolation.

Classes are free for residents and will be offered in group settings and through an on-demand digital library, called WRAP – Web-based Resident-Applied Programming. Rainbow Housing, which operates in 13 states, will have a program director living on-site.
