PROVIDENCE – CharterCARE Health Partners has announced that it has made a $5,000 holiday donation to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

CharterCARE CEO Jeffrey Liebman says that while staff at its hospitals – Roger Williams Medical Center and Our Lady of Fatima Hospital – have cared for hundreds of COVID-19 patients, the organization also wants to help people who have been financially affected by the virus.

“We are proud of our front-line staff who have cared for more than 850 COVID admissions since the onset of the pandemic,” Liebman said. “But we also know the impact this virus has had on people who, in addition to trying to stay safe and healthy, struggle to feed their families and themselves.”

According to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, the nonprofit was serving about 54,000 people per month prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, it is assisting more than 68,000 people monthly.
