Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County celebrates 10 years

FALL RIVER – On July 31, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County celebrated 10 years helping children and families who have experienced sexual abuse, severe physical abuse or witnessed violence.

In a statement. Michelle Loranger, CAC executive director, said this was a milestone to “celebrate.”

In that time period, working with Bristol County police, the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families and Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn, the organization estimates it has helped 4,600 children and their families overcome such violence. This reflects a 123 percent increase in families served since their first year.

On July 1, the CAC merged with the Justice Resource Institute, which provides trauma-informed care to Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut children.
