The initiative benefits the Providence-based social services agency and the community, as employees can respond immediately during a medical crisis. All 375 employees at the nonprofit participate in the certification programs.

“The program increases safety both in our offices and out in the community,” Manager of Benefits and Employee Experience Julie Colangeli said. “Plus, employees feel more empowered knowing they have the skills to help out in a crisis.”

The organization has also created a network of trained individuals ready to assist anyone in the community with an emergency.

Colangeli said CPR certification for employees has been a great investment because it strengthens the fabric of the community by “fostering a caring culture of people ready to pitch in when help is needed.”
