
PAWTUCKET – For the 18th year, Rhode Island will celebrate the annual Chinese Dragon Boat Races & Taiwan Day Festival Saturday Sept. 9 at the Festival Pier along the Pawtucket River, the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council reminded Wednesday.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the event will host a number of attractions including a Chinese folk-art workshop, a Narragansett beer garden, food trucks, riverboat tours, and dragon boat races.

Participants in the annual race can vie for cash prizes and trophies awarded to top teams, though all entrants will receive official 2017 Dragon Boat Races t-shirts and medals and a food voucher for the fare offered at the festival.
The winner of a dumpling eating contest will also receive a round-trip ticket to Taipei courtesy of EVA Air.
Registration for the races also includes professional training from 22Dragons, the 2017 Canadian National Champion dragon boat club.
