MIDDLETOWN – The Chiropractic Society of Rhode Island has begun its Healing Hands Glove and Mitten Drive, collecting gloves and mittens to be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island.
Various chiropractors in Rhode Island will receive the collected items in donation boxes set up in their respective waiting rooms throughout the drive until Jan. 20, 2020, according to a news release. Both new and gently used gloves and mittens will be accepted.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rhode Island will collect and disburse the collected gloves and mittens to those in need, the release states.
“As chiropractors, our entire livelihood depends on our hands, so we know what delicate instruments the hands can be. To be without mittens or gloves during the frigid winter months, particularly those who are homeless, can be extremely damaging to the hands,” said Michael Zola, president of the Chiropractic Society of Rhode Island and a chiropractic physician. “With this drive, we hope to help those in need of gloves and mittens in the communities of participating chiropractors to better brave the upcoming winter months.”
