After serving as the Center Director for Polaris MEP and 401 Tech Bridge, Cowan became the Executive Director of their parent organization, URI Research Foundation, in 2022. For his more than 10 years with the non-profit, he has worked to strengthen and expand the state ecosystem supporting innovation, manufacturing and technology. He has advocated for and secured investment in Rhode Island’s blue economy.
Christian started in the manufacturing industry managing small and large organizations in the information technology networking, energy, and textile industries. He was most recently the director of global product management for Opengear. Prior to that, he served as vice president of marketing for Asure Software, product manager at A123 Systems, and product line director for American Power Conversion.
