While scrolling on TikTok last year, a video about ways to generate passive income piqued James Manzo’s interest.
The video inspired Manzo, who works in real estate, to open a laundromat – something that would offer more stable income as he faced a volatile real estate market.
“This was tried and true,” Manzo said. “Usually, I don’t go for these types of ideas. I always want to hit a home run with everything I do. But it’s good hitting singles, too.”
So, Manzo and his mother and business partner, Angela, decided to purchase a laundromat and opened their business, Cleanville Laundromat, in December.
The laundromat, located in Smithfield, offers washing, drying and folding, as well as pick-up and delivery services for customers within 10 to 12 miles of the store. Customers can also get their laundry picked up and delivered through DoorDash or Uber.
Manzo says he hopes to add dry-cleaning services in the future through partnering with an existing dry cleaner. These partnerships not only boost dry cleaner’s business but also makes it more convenient for customers.
“The one-stop shop makes everybody’s lives easier,” Manzo said.
