PROVIDENCE – The North Kingstown-based accounting and business advisory firm of John W. Clegg & Co. has merged into the Providence-based accounting and business advisory firm of Sansiveri, Kimball & Co., the firms announced Thursday.
The merger strengthens Sansiveri’s position as one of the largest independent accounting firms in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, with a combined workforce of more than 60 employees.

Learn MoreThe combined firms will operate under the Sansiveri, Kimball brand and will be headquartered at Sansiveri’s current location at 50 Holden St. in Providence, while maintaining Clegg’s current location in North Kingstown for the foreseeable future, the firms said.
Jason DaPonte will continue to lead Sansiveri as managing partner, with Dennis DiBenedetto and Frederick Uttley of Clegg joining the combined firm as partners. Financial terms of the merger, effective Nov. 1, were not disclosed.
Clegg’s areas of specialty are similar to Sansiveri’s – ranging from traditional audit and tax services to consulting and business advisory services, the firm said.
Founded in 1975, Sansiveri has a staff of 52 with 30 CPAs. Clegg, founded in 1961, is a nine-person firm.
“The addition of John W. Clegg & Co.’s talented team reinforces our ability to provide top-notch service and performance to the numerous businesses and organizations in the region,” DaPonte said in a statement.

Leaders at Clegg said the merger will bolster its commitment to the highest standards of quality, professionalism, and performance. It also offers the scale, capabilities, and access to a wide range of resources needed to remain viable and better serve its clients long-term.

As part of the merger, Dennis C. DiBenedetto and Frederick K. Uttley of John W. Clegg & Co. joined the Sansiveri team as partners.
