What happens when a mixed martial arts fighter and licensed social worker team up?
You get Team Rockstar Sports LLC, a small Providence-based business venture between Luis Feliz, the fighter, and Rose Molina, the social worker.
With a unique mix of fitness classes and therapy groups, Team Rockstar’s mission is to instill self-confidence and self-discipline through athletics and therapeutic coaching and mentoring for children and young adults of all skill sets.
“We welcome everyone, from children with autism and other disabilities to elite athletes,” said Feliz, a retired mixed martial arts professional.
Feliz and Molina share the same passion for working with youths. They use fitness and sports to facilitate social and emotional learning and to foster meaningful relationships. Assisting them is Jose “Pep” Rico, a behavioral specialist.
The group’s offerings include “Rockstar Recess,” geared to teach children ages 4 through 10 teamwork and handling winning and losing.
Their programs are built on five core competencies: self-awareness, social-awareness, responsible decision-making, self-management skills, and relationship skills.
“Lastly,” Team Rockstar’s website reads, “clients build friendships and have fun.”
