PROVIDENCE – College Unbound, a bachelor’s degree completion program, announced it is accepting applications for $120,000 in CU tuition scholarship funding for 12 recipients to share in 2017, according to a Tuesday release by the organization.

Successful recipients will be members of the second group of students to receive such funding, which is independent of partner institutions.

Each of the 12 qualified students will receive $10,000 scholarships, a year’s tuition, for every year they remain in good standing until their degree is completed.

Adam Bush, College Unbound provost, said the first cohort of recipients have proven very successful and the organization is “excited to be building upon that work with this additional round of 12 students.”

Calling College Unbound a “talent developer” that finds and builds leaders in Rhode Island, Dennis Littky, president of the organization, said: “This is an incredible opportunity for an adult to come back to college, knowing they can connect their life, work and school through projects that fit their courses.”

Applicants for the 12 scholarships must have at least a 2.0 GPA and a minimum of nine, but no more than 60, college credits to qualify. A $50 refundable application fee must be submitted with the completed application, which can be found online; they are accepted on a rolling basis with a priority deadline of Nov. 18.

Chosen students will be interviewed and asked to complete a writing assessment; recipients will be notified before the beginning of the spring 2017 term and an orientation session will be held on Jan. 18.
