PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Commerce Corp. launched a new small business hotline number Monday, (401) 521-HELP (401-521-4357) designed to make it easier for small businesses to utilize the services of Commerce RI and to raise awareness of the services that it provides to Rhode Island businesses.

The hotline is open during business hours and connects callers to the most appropriate Commerce RI employee.

Agency spokesman Matt Sheaff said that Commerce RI always had dedicated staff to field inquires from small businesses, but the new hotline makes it easier for businesses to take advantage of state services and resources while also raising awareness of those benefits provided.

Commerce RI highlighted its ability to assist with navigating government bureaucracy, business assistance, access to funding, and permitting and licensing in a news release Monday.

“The Commerce Corporation is here to assist businesses of all sizes in Rhode Island, and we’re launching this advertising campaign to ensure businesses know what we have to offer,” said Jesse Saglio, president of Commerce RI, in a statement. “Whether it’s navigating state and local government or learning about different program options that might be able to assist with growing your business, we wanted to make it easier for Rhode Island’s businesses to get in touch with our team.”
