SOUTH KINGSTOWN – The Compass School’s farm and associated Science Engagement Center have been awarded a $35,000 grant from the Newman’s Own Foundation, according to a school release from late October.
The funding, which is given as part of the foundation’s efforts to address issues of fresh-food accessibility and nutrition education, will be used by The Compass School to host visitors for workshops, summer camps, field days, training and collaboration with other local schools.
Thankful for the grant, Brandee Lapisky, director of The Compass School, said in a statement: “We are eager to share what we’ve learned and make a significant impact on our greater community in the area of environmental sustainability education.”
