Cox introduces Spanish-language bills

Cox Communications is introducing a Spanish-language bill option, part of a larger-scale effort to strengthen its relationships with Hispanic customers.

The Spanish bills are already available to Cox customers in Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona, and will be rolled out in Rhode Island, Omaha, Las Vegas, San Diego, New Orleans, Oklahoma City and Northern Virginia by the end of this year.

“We want our Spanish-speaking customers to know how much we appreciate their business and we want them to feel comfortable in all facets of their relationship with Cox,” said Cesar Cruz, Cox’s director of multicultural marketing, in a news release.

Cox says it has gotten a “very positive response” from Arizona customers to the Spanish bills and other product enhancements, such as the introduction of several Cox Digital Telephone calling plans that offer inexpensive calls to Mexico. Cox is also working to add more Spanish-language networks to its cable lineup.

Cruz noted that Cox is the first major cable company to offer customers a “bundled bill” in Spanish, meaning that the new billing feature is available with not only Cox Cable, but also Cox Digital Telephone and Cox High Speed Internet. As with Cox’s current billing options, customers of multiple Cox services who choose the new Spanish-language bill can elect to receive a single bill or separate bills for each service.

Cruz said Cox had not just translated the English bills, but taken care to make every section “clear, understandable and culturally relevant” to Hispanic customers. The company also reviewed its customer service functions to ensure Spanish speakers can get “excellent customer care” in their own language. The Cox Web site has also been enhanced to make bills and other online customer support features available in Spanish.

Cox Communications, the nation’s third-largest cable TV provider, is a Fortune 500 company based in Atlanta serving about 6.6 million customers nationwide. Along with analog and digital cable, it offers phone service, high-speed Internet, and commercial voice and data services.
