PROVIDENCE – The Cranston Street Armory, one of the most historical buildings in Rhode Island, will be opened for public tours on Sunday as part of the final day of PVDFest, the citywide arts celebration.

Owned by the city, the structure built in 1907 for the Rhode Island National Guard has been mostly vacant for several years. Its future is undetermined. The guided tours will be offered from 1 to 5:30 p.m. June 4 on the half-hour and are part of the West Broadway Neighborhood Association’s effort to reintroduce people to the building.

“Offering a glimpse of what this building means to our neighborhood and the potential benefit it could bring to our city and state in the future,” the neighborhood association said, in an emailed newsletter.
