WOONSOCKET – Citing research indicating a tamping down of smoking rates around the United States resulting from its decision to stop selling tobacco, CVS Health recently observed the one-year anniversary of its new way of doing business.
“One year ago, we stopped selling tobacco products because it conflicted with our purpose of helping people on their path to better health,” said Dr. Troyen Brennan, chief medical officer of CVS Health.

A study showing the diminishing purchases of packs of cigarettes was conducted by the CVS Health Research Institute. Data indicated that a total of 95 million fewer packs of cigarettes were sold nationally in the eight months after CVS/pharmacy halted cigarette sales.
