WOONSOCKET – The CVS/Caremark Charitable Trust today announced plans for a five-year $2.5 million grant to the R.I. Quality Institute.
The institute is a collaborative effort – including representatives of health care providers, health insurers, the public, businesses, government and academia – that aims to improve the quality, safety and value of health care across the state.
“We believe the collaborative efforts that are being spearheaded by the R.I. Quality Institute will have a positive and lasting impact on health care here in Rhode Island and across the country,” said Eileen Howard Dunn, vice president of the CVS/Caremark Charitable Trust.
Among other activities, the institute has been working to foster connectivity among health care practitioners, as well as between the health care team and the patient, and encourage the use of information technology to increase accuracy and responsiveness.
“This significant grant … will fulfill our mission and vision,” said George Vecchione, chair of the R.I. Quality Institute and president and CEO of Lifespan Corp.
