Da Cruz elected president of R.I. Association of Realtors

WARWICK – The Rhode Island Association of Realtors announced that South Kingstown-based Realtor Bryant C. Da Cruz was recently elected president of the 6,500-member, statewide professional association.

Da Cruz, of Century 21 Guardian Realty, assumed the role of president for the association in mid-November, the organization said. He was previously the organization’s secretary for the past year.

Da Cruz graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship in 1997 before starting his career in real estate, spending many of his earlier years as a Realtor at Keller Williams Realty.

Da Cruz was a town councilman in South Kingstown for four years ending in late 2020, and he is currently president of the South Kingstown Lions Club and serves as a volunteer firefighter for the Union Fire District. He also previously served on the board of the Kent Washington Association of Realtors, where he chaired the government affairs committee.

Along with Da Cruz, the association announced four new board officers who will serve one-year terms, including newly elected Vice President Christopher Whitten, of Premeer Real Estate. Thomas Sweeney, of Sweeney Real Estate & Appraisal, will serve as treasurer and Michael Pereira, of June Realty, will serve as secretary. Sally Hersey, of Williams and Stuart Real Estate, was selected as president-elect, making her the organization’s leader for the following year.

The association was established in 1948 and represents more than 6,500 members working in approximately 950 offices across Rhode Island.

The association, which said its members generated nearly $7.9 billion in residential real estate sales last year, is one of more than 1,400 boards and associations that make up the National Association of Realtors, which represents approximately 1.6 million real estate professionals across the U.S.
