WARWICK – Fresenius Medical Care of Warwick, an advanced dialysis treatment center, has moved to a new facility at 2814 Post Road to meet the needs of a growing patient population, the center’s parent company, Fresenius Medical Care North America, said last week.
The Medicare-certified facility includes 22 dialysis stations with reclining, heated chairs with massage features; touch-screen entertainment systems with cable TV, Internet service, video games and more; and an online charting system so clinical staff can securely enter, access and track critical patient data at each dialysis station.
The facility also offers home dialysis as well as a kidney transplant support program, anemia management, nutrition counseling, bone disease management and social worker support. The new clinic offers a “treatment options” program to help patients and their families learn about chronic kidney disease and dialysis. Sessions are open to the public and are held quarterly.
Fresenius Medical Care currently treats nearly 260 dialysis patients in Rhode Island. It is led by clinical manager Michael Sanford, a registered nurse, and is staffed by registered nurses, patient care technicians, a social worker and a dietitian, plus technical and administrative personnel.
Fresenius Medical Care North America is a subsidiary of Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. KGaA, the world’s largest integrated provider of products and services for individuals undergoing dialysis because of chronic kidney failure, a condition that affects more than 1,600,000 people worldwide. Fresenius has 2,297 dialysis clinics in North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia, the Pacific Islands and Africa, serving more than 177,000 patients. For more information, go to www.fmcna.com.
