DMV now accepting medical certificates through new online service

CRANSTON – The R.I. Division of Motor Vehicles now allows Rhode Island commercial driver’s license holders to submit their medical certificates online, the DMV announced July 16.

“This new online option is the latest way the Division of Motor Vehicles is streamlining services following the successful launch last year of our new computer system,” said DMV Administrator Walter R. “Bud” Craddock in a statement.

The General Assembly’s recent passage of legislation introduced by Rep. Robert D. Phillips, D-Woonsocket, and Sen. Roger A. Picard, D-Woonsocket, made the service possible by allowing drivers to electronically submit medical certificates to the DMV.

The free service provides a sample medical certificate to help drivers find the information they need to provide to the DMV and allows them to upload their documents.
