
University of Rhode Island President David M. Dooley went before the General Assembly recently to argue that URI needs an independent board of trustees in order to be more effective at strategic planning as well as be more nimble in how it responds to the ever-evolving higher education environment. Dooley said that the new board would help increase the national and international profile of URI while also giving a boost to fundraising efforts.
