The effects on daily life of the COVID-19 pandemic and efforts to limit its spread locally will only grow in the coming weeks, but that doesn’t have to mean a halt to living – or business – in the Ocean State.
Other states have been harder hit by the coronavirus, but Gov. Gina M. Raimondo on March 9 smartly declared a state of emergency to marshal as many state and federal resources as possible to stop the spread.
Local colleges have moved to restrict or suspend school-sponsored travel, and in some cases are already planning to switch to online learning later this month. Businesses too have taken a host of steps, including self-quarantining at-risk employees and allowing flexible work schedules, including telecommuting.
PBN joined the growing effort to limit large group gatherings by rescheduling an annual manufacturing awards program from this month to May 7.
The more proactive steps we all take to limit the spread, the less likely we’ll need to react to a widespread, local outbreak and the fear that would accompany it.
