Edocs plans public offering for next year, co-founder says

NATICK, Mass. – Edocs Inc., a closely held provider of online billing software based in Natick, Mass., plans to dust off the initial public offering it shelved in February, co-founder Jim Moran said.

Moran said he expects the company will go public in the first half of 2002, Bloomberg News reported. Edocs, based in Natick, Massachusetts, west of Boston, was one of several companies that postponed their IPOs earlier this year, as investor demand dried up because of slumping share prices.

About 159 companies canceled offerings worth $14.7 billion this year, according to Dealogic CommScan LLC.
