“Everyone is hiring, in every industry,” said Chief Business Officer Patrick Madden, who also serves as a managing partner and co-founded the firm along with Rocco Giusti, managing partner and chief operating officer. “The staffing business is fairly competitive and oversaturated at the moment.”

Hundreds of outsourcing companies, both local and national, recruit and place personnel to address ongoing needs for a skilled workforce. The challenge for these firms, however, is finding a unique approach to set yourself apart.

In the case of Element2 Consulting, utilizing friendly and personal customer service helps the firm stand out amongst the rest.

“The keys to our achievements over the past two years are our focus on great service to our clients and hiring really good, motivated staff to work for us,” Madden said. “Those are the ‘two’ elements of Element2’s success.”

Element2 Consulting’s team consists of experts in the personnel field who collaborate with businesses to help them meet their short-term and long-term staffing needs. The firm’s success is evident in its substantial revenue growth since 2021. That year, when Element2 Consulting was launched, the firm reported $228,761 in income. By 2023, that number ballooned to $3.2 million.

Madden credits the firm’s commitment to keeping customer service as its main focus. That includes clarifying expectations upfront, as well as regularly consulting with clients and candidates, making sure everyone is on the same page.

Element2 Consulting seeks workers to join multiple industries, including information technology, life sciences, construction, distribution, manufacturing and finance.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses and their employees have been figuring out how to create a more flexible work environment while still getting work done. There will always be the need for hands-on employees, but remote work also has its place. The challenge is finding a balance between productivity and the number of hours worked.

“As far as our approach with clients, we’re not remote,” Madden said. “We are there walking candidates through their interviews. We truly value that face-to-face interaction.”

With artificial intelligence being touted as a solution for everything from marketing to hiring, many businesses use the technology to sort through resumes and identify potential employees. The team at Element2 Consulting, though, is much more personal, getting to know its clients so it can provide the best recruitment strategies and results.

“AI can’t replace people when it comes to interviewing candidates,” Madden said. “Something in the process is missing without that personal connection.”

An example Madden uses is pre-recorded video interviews where it’s hard to get to know a candidate without any kind of interaction. Tone and body language can influence the process and they are missing when the approach is solely AI-based, he says.

That individual attention, Madden says, is part of the high-quality service that Element2 Consulting delivers, resulting in fast company growth in a short period.

Based on its numerous five-star Google reviews, clients on both sides of the coin are satisfied. Employers are grateful for the help in recruiting qualified candidates and the new hires are pleased with the prospects of their new opportunities.

Element2 Consulting has also received numerous “Best in Service” awards in the industry by ClearlyRated, the premier research firm that rates business-to-business service providers.

“We started with two of us in 2021 and now we’re up to 15 staff members and we plan to continue that momentum,” Madden said. “We’re looking forward to more expansion and growth, as well as more hiring.”

Currently, 70% to 80% of Element2 Consulting’s business is in Rhode Island, but the firm is expanding its footprint into Connecticut, where it recently opened an office, as well as in Massachusetts.

“Ultimately, it’s about creating a healthy balance that includes a certain amount of flexibility,” Madden said. “We strive to help businesses and their employees find that happy medium.”
