Elorza signs sister-city agreement between Providence and Zhuhai, China

PROVIDENCE – Mayor Jorge O. Elorza joined city officials, Bryant University President Ronald K. Machtley and a delegation from Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, People’s Republic of China, in the signing of a Sister City Agreement on Dec. 4.

The agreement aims to ensure regular contacts between the cities, as well as to promote exchange visits and facilitate cooperation among various departments, social institutions and businesses.

The cities previously signed a Cooperation and Friendship Agreement in 2015. That same year, Bryant opened Bryant University Zhuhai at the Beijing Institute of Technology, becoming the only American university with a presence in the city and offering the only U.S.-China joint four-year undergraduate business degree program in China.
