PROVIDENCE – Employment in Providence County increased 0.7 percent year over year in the third quarter of 2018 to 290,300 jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Wednesday.
The employment percentage increase ranked No. 206 among the largest 350 metro areas in the nation.
In Kent County, employment increased 0.5 percent year over year during the same period, ranking No. 235 in the nation. Bristol County, Mass., employment declined 0.2 percent year over year, ranking No. 312 in the nation.
United States employment increased 1.6 percent year over year in the third quarter.
In Providence County, the average weekly wage was $990 at the end of the third quarter, a 3.4 percent decline year over year, giving it a rank of No. 347 in the nation. In Kent County, the average weekly wage increased 2.4 percent year over year to $906 in the third quarter for a rank of No. 232.
Nationally, the average weekly wage in the third quarter was $1,055, a 3.3 percent increase year over year.
Bristol County, Mass.’s average weekly wage increased 2.8 percent in that time to $930, for a rank of No. 186.
